It sounds like you're describing a different issue, which is what happens when you refuse to give Accessibility permission. Please open a separate issue if you want to request the ability to not see the popup when you don't give permission (though Andreas has already indicated he won't do that). I really don't see any reason for anyone to worry about giving the permission.

This issue is about when you do give permission, but it keeps reverting., I downloaded a fresh copy of 2.331 and did a binary comparison with my installed copy, and all files were identical. I'm not having any problems with my system, other apps, or corrupted files, that I'm aware of, and my SSD SMART status is 'verified'. I did a manual update to 2.332, and it continued to work, the permission was still there. I'm not sure what the pattern is then, of when it happens. It's happened maybe 5 or 6 times in the last month, and I don't remember it happening before that. Just one last word on that: some BTT features may seem to work fine without the API, however the issues that are caused by not enabling it are often 'invisible' to the user or may cause higher cpu usage because BTT needs to use less optimal APIs.

In other scenarios it could cause certain workarounds BTT needs to use to fail (e.g. Resulting in weird mouse behavior) I'll try to reproduce this on my machines. In case you can find any pattern as to when this happens it would be great if you'd let me know. I looked at the installation information at it said the following which I didn't like originally as it seemed to imply granting access was 'dangerous'.

Free d link dcs 930l software for mac. This message pops up because BetterTouchTool uses an API called 'Accessibility API'. That API is necessary for many of BetterTouchTool's core functions. It is therefore required to enabled it if you want to continue using BetterTouchTool. The Accessibility API was made for accessibility tools like screen readers or other tools that may help people with disabilities to use their computers. This is why it offers some functionality that is normally not available to apps.

For example the whole window snapping features in BetterTouchTool are only possible because of the accessibility API. Normal applications only have access to their own windows, controls etc. Only by using the Accessibility API we get access to other apps and can control them. This is both very powerful but also dangerous because malicious applications could use this for bad things. This is why Apple shows the above warning message for any app that wants to use the API.

Yes, the accessibility api gives BTT more options to control other applications, which is the main purpose of BTT. For example window snapping / resizing would not be possible at all without the API. Also as BTT is not sandboxed (that would not be possible) it also can control other apps by using different mechanisms, however these mechanisms would require more cpu which is why the accessibility api is far superior and in my opinion doesn't decrease security. Also it has always been a requirement for BTT, but it's possible a recent macOS update reset the setting on some machines.

The accessibility api permissions give a false sense of security because people think they are secure when not enabling it. Reality is, non-sandboxed apps (i.e. Most apps outside the Mac App Store) can still record your screen, record your keyboard input, control your mouse and keyboard, access all of the current users documents (even delete or encrypt then), monitor your clipboard etc. If you are really concerned about security I think it's much more important to run a good firewall like little snitch. The installation instructions could be worded better.

I have worked as a professional Mac system administrator, and I can assure you it's not dangerous to grant Accessibility permission to BetterTouchTool and it doesn't make your computer less secure. Apps like BTT are exactly what the Accessibility system is designed for. Normal apps don't need the ability to control other apps, so by default Apple doesn't allow it. There would be the danger that if some malware got onto your system, it could take over other apps that way. But if you trust the app, then it's not a problem.
